In the News
Tuesday, June 3: Hubbard, Webster, Prepared for Disaster Incident -- Hubbard Regional Hospital Emergency Preparedness Committe, along with Webster Fire Department, Thompson, Conn.'s Community Fire Co. and Webster EMS were present for a training session on a Mobile Decontamination Unit (MDU).

While HRH and other hospitals have developed a decontamination capability for single patients, few, if any, have the ability to decontaminate multiple patients arriving at the same time. In order to provide the capacity to decontaminate victims without further taxing hospital personnel engaged in treating the victims, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, through a grant from Homeland Security, proposed the establishment of fire department decontamination companies. The Webster Fire Department Decontamination Company and HRH Emergency Preparedness are ready to respond to a terrorism or disaster incident.
The Webster Fire Department Decontamination Company was provided with equipment
stored on trailers and maintained in a ready state. Webster Fire Department and HRH enter into an agreement with the State to maintain the equipment, make it immediately available upon request, and to have its personnel trained in decontamination
procedures.

HRH Welcomes Full Time OT to Hospital Family ...
Hubbard welcomes
Audrey Aho, OTR/L to the Hubbard Hospital staff. With 15 years experience in the therapy field, Aho is excited to begin working with Inpatient and Outpatient procedures, as well as with Accord Adult Day Health in Dudley. Aho joins our comprehensive and professional Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation staff at our spacious center on Cudworth Road.
Occupational Therapy provides patients with ability to regain function, independence and complete daily activities like showering and eating. OT helps with a variety of medical concerns, including neuromuscular, orthopedic and many post-surgical treatments. Besides helping to regain functionality in the area of concern, patients work to improve balance and strength, using adaptive equipment and structured exercises. "It’s just as much about the education as it is the program," Aho said. "We’re teaching them proper body mechanics so hopefully people don’t re-injure the area."
OT, similar to our Physical Therapy program, will require a physician's referral. For quality patient care with excellent results, come to Hubbard Hospital's Outpatient Rehabilitation Center! For more information, call (508) 949-9124.

After a brief discussion, the nurses then spent time giving blood pressure screenings to those interested.

HRH Shows Gratitude to Statehouse for Financial Support
Hubbard Hospital
CEO William Falkowski was proud to attend the Webster Lake Association meeting Tuesday night, Feb. 12, at Point Breeze Restaurant in Webster.
Guest speakers,
Massachusetts Lt. Gov. Tim Murray and
Gov. Deval Patrick arrived to speak on the importance of protecting the state's natural resources, such as the lake, as well as answer a few questions from town officials and residents who attended the program.
Falkowski presented the state leaders with a commemorative gift, in honor of the continued support given to Hubbard Hospital. Recent grants have enabled HRH to purchase new equipment and upgrade medical services for their ever-growing patient base. The gift, a wooden paddle engraved with the name and drawing of the lake, represents the important role state leaders play in keeping Hubbard "afloat." Falkowski joked at the podium, "Without the help of state funding, we would be up a creek - or our lake - without a paddle!"
Pictured in the photograph, from left to right, are Harrington Memorial Hospital CEO Edward Moore, Massachusetts DEP attorney Ken Kimmel, Murray, Patrick and Falkowski.
